STUDENT TEACHING CHAMPAIGN CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL 2021

ARTIST EXPERIMENT LESSON PLAN

I used a choice-based curriculum when student teaching at Champaign Central High School. For this artist experiment unit, the students had a lot of freedom to create a painting of whatever they wanted. This three-week lesson plan was used for my Painting 1 classes.

ARTIST PRESENTATIONS

Throughout my student teaching I found it very important to introduce the students to artists of different backgrounds, cultures, and identities. Being aware of a broad range of world art and the people who create it can inspire a student to create something out of their comfort zone. The presentations below are about some of the artists I highlighted during my time at Champaign Central.

STUDENT TEACHING FISCHER MIDDLE SCHOOL 2021

Student teaching in 2021, during the pandemic, turned out to be a great experience. Before I started I was concerned with how to teach art through a computer/ hybrid learning. Student teaching taught me so much about new technology teaching through uncertain times, and dealing with (many) bumps in the road.

"ART IS" STATEMENT
LESSON PLAN

Power Point Lesson

Using the website development program Adobe Spark, students created collages of what art is to them. Choosing pictures and fonts from the site, they were able to explore this new program while also making art about how they felt.

CHUCK CLOSE PORTRAITS
LESSON PLAN

Power Point Lesson

I based this lesson oN the artist Chuck Close's style. The students were taught how to grid a picture of themselves on Google Draw and then transfer the grid onto their drawing paper. They took the style of Chuck Close and made it into their own by creating their own designs and colors that they added into each of their gridded boxes.

LESSONS

A lot of my junior high students had never taken a beginning art class. I taught a lot of lessons that covered the basic techniques of art and it was so fun seeing everything they created.
